Blog Party! :)

Through Facebook I have found some more lovely blogs that I love to browse! :)  The ones with stories about their kiddos are fun and inspiring.  I also enjoy reading recipes and I'm thankful for those people out there showing me what to do in the kitchen!  I'm newly married (June 12, 2010) and figuring this all out.  I never enjoyed being in the kitchen that much growing up.  I was in charge of washing dishes, and looking at all those dishes being used........so I never spent a lot of time learning how to do things.  Now I regret it daily.

But back to the Blog Party!  I'm a little late but now I'm healthy enough to answer the questions!!
To start off, here's a little bit about myself.  I turn 23 on May 5th.  I share a birthday with my big sister and she will be thankful if I don't say how old she is turning (shh! we're seven years apart).  I posted not that long ago a list of 100 random things about me, so go read that if you're desperately wondering.  Pictures on my blog show glances of my family but there is not quite enough to show it all!
Here's hubby and me:
I still can't stop looking at him like that. :)
Jon and I live in Ames in a one-bedroom apartment while he attends ISU and works part-time making home theater screens.

This one I love cus we're all dressed up! :)  This was the Monday after Christmas at a service that was glorifying my grandmother's life!  (More of that later.)  I can also tell you about the person on the other side of me.  This woman has been there for me for everything!  She was the maid of honor at my wedding and I've known her since 5th grade.  Her name is Kate and she deserves lots of things in heaven! :)

Now, a picture of my parents is needed. :)
That's what happens after 30 years. :)

Want to know more about me through pictures?  I thought so..... :)

This picture was taken the day that little guy was born.  My big sister Melissa and her family.
Four boys in under six years.........

An updated picture of that sweet little boy, Franklin, born August 25th.

I was blessed with another sister (Elizabeth).  I picture of her entire family next.  She had little Annabelle August 8th.

They live in Kansas City and have two little girls. :)

This is the best picture I have of my brother!  My brother is in the front.  He lives at home with my parents and works at Scheels and LOVES IT!  This picture is taken at my grandmother's birthday.  The last birthday Grandma Evelyn spent here on earth with all of us (October 2010).

Here she is holding her great-grandson, Frank while the mom's watch.  A four generation picture. :)  Grandma loved babies and children.  She was so patient and serving.  Pretty much anyone who knew her called her Grandma!  She was such a blessing to so many.  She peacefully went to see Jesus in time for Christmas to celebrate in heaven!  We all chuckle and say, "I bet she is cleaning up after (and during) the party!" :)  She was a hard worker and a blessing to us all.  She definitely left a legacy.  My mom can say she is blessed for having such a wonderful mother.  Grandma molded our mom to be wonderful too! :)

Now, my hubby has an older sister, Elizabeth.  Yes, Jon and I both have an older sister named Elizabeth.  Anyways, she had a baby in November after Thanksgiving.  (Yes, I had three pregnant bridesmaids.)  His name?  Greyson Earl Flug

Here is a shot I got of his big brother, Caden, holding him.  He couldn't stop looking at him.

And here's the crew. :)

Here's a picture of Jon's mom!  (My mom is next to me.)  This picture was taken at a bridal shower thrown by my in-law's friends in Newton, people they knew through church.  It was a nice way for me to get to know people who knew Jon when he was a little man. :)

A side note:  Can I just say one thing here?  I don't know where else to put it?
I love, LOVE, LOVE being an aunt!  Can I say it enough?  Fine.  I'll show you. :)
This is my sister, Melissa's, two oldest boys Sam and Jack (ahem, I mean Spiderman).  I just can't help but smile every time I see this. :)

Seriously?  Who can resist THAT face?

I love Annabelle's big eyes!  Like "what have I gotten myself into?"  Those matching outfits I got them for Evelyn's birthday in September.  Yeah, Evelyn, is named after Grandma Evelyn. :)

Okay, okay, fine.  I'll get on with answering the questions I'm supposed to do......

How would people describe your personality? (If they could only use ONE word.) Are they right?
One word?  How do I do that??  Let's go with energetic.  People would probably comment on my energy and outgoing personality.  However sometimes I like to be in quiet place.  But if I feel comfortable in a setting I will be outgoing and more bursting of energy!  Maybe that's why I get along with kids so well??

What celebrity/celebrities would create a “Star-Struck” feeling if you saw them in real life?
oh geesh, lots of them, but I don't care for their lives outside of their acting abilities.  I liked Shane West in A Walk to Remember (however that movie upset me once I read the book and noticed huge changes).  I also appreciate Bruce Willis and his action-filled movies.

Are you a hopeless romantic?
Unfortunately, yes.  And I say that because of my poor husband.

What is your comfort food/drink?
I got off of caffeine pop over a year ago, I was addicted seriously! I got headaches too often.  Now it is Orange Crush for drink.  For food it is definitely brownies or chocolate chip cookies.

Be brave – tell us something very random and weird about yourself.
Ick, do I have to? ;)  Something random would have to be this:

Hyperhidrosis

I have that. http://www.sweaty-palms.com/  Check that for more explanation.  My family doctor from childhood has it too.  It's a pain. I'm so lucky, not, but thankful for heaven! :)

What is your greatest fear or strange phobia?
I don't like walking in a room or area without lights on...I have a hard time walking.  I have to see where I'm going.  I also dislike bugs or spiders of all kinds even though I have no reason to dislike them.  Other than the fact when I was little our basement had dark carpet with bright flecks in it and you couldn't tell if there were bugs down there. One day I realized I was touching one and I never played down there on the floor again!

Movies: Action, Drama, Romantic Comedy, Documentary, Comedy? What are your favorite genres?
I love most movies, and I'm not a hard critic.  I appreciate action, drama, comedy, and everything in between.  But please don't make me watch anything scary or horror films.  AUHHHH!!!  I'll have nightmares before I fall asleep!

Books: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Romance, Biographies, True Stories, Self-Help, Devotional/Study? What are your favorite types of reading material?
When I take the time to read, I read the Bible and devotional types.  I also read self-help books depending on where I am in my life.  Like before I was married I read lots of books about praying and waiting.  Now that I'm married I'm reading about my fertility and how to be a wonderful wife to my husband. :)

Music: Funk, Rock, Country, Jazz, Classical, Film Score, Blues, Classic Rock, Crooner, Alternative, Heavy Metal, Techno? What are your favorite types?
Christian worship by far.  Anything that I can give praise to Jesus!  I'm one of those people that don't notice the people around me when I'm worshiping.  I love it when the drummer gets really into the beat so I can start dancing. :)

What movie or book character can you most relate to?
Elizabeth from Pride & Prejudice because I was picky about not dating or marrying anyone that I would regret later.  But I'm not as PREACHY as her and not so OPEN to talk about my disagreements as she was, I'm more like her shy older sister in that matter.

Name one weakness of yours (confession is good for the soul).
Like I said above, I'm not always good with sharing my feelings.  I usually hold my thoughts in and you can call me a "stuffer."  I married a stuffer also, but we've decided to never go to sleep without discussing things.  Jon is really good about that.  He can even tell in the dark if I have that "look" on my face.

If you could live anywhere at all (and take all your loved ones with you), where would you go?
Live is different than visit.  I would love to take every family member with me, because I couldn't imagine going without them.  Why do you think Jon and I are still in Iowa?  We can't imagine ever being far from family!  However, if I got to pick I would pick somewhere warmer that never got snow (or at least almost never).  I know, the typical "warmer" answer....But it is true.  I have never liked snow, even when I was little.

What is one of your favorite things to catch a whiff of?
Laundry detergent BY FAR!!!  mmmmMMM!  Sometimes I walk down that aisle at the store just because I can!

When you leave a social gathering, do you wish: You would have talked more or You would have talked less?
I'm not Elizabeth from Pride & Prejudice in social gatherings, I wish I talked more.

If money wasn’t a factor, what stores would you shop in?
IKEA, Target, Pottery Barn, and a place where I can get a new wardrobe.  Ever had that feeling, and then reminded of hungry children...well I look in my fridge and figure eek!  I should give to them.

What are your favorite animals?
I've done some research in the past and decided I love giraffes.  Did you know that God really thought about that animal and how it would be able to stay alive?  I also like sweet, loving dogs.  (I'm picky about them though.)
This one is cute however....
That dog belongs to my parents and it is a golden doodle (standard poodle and golden retriever mix).  Her name is Abby and she is the best dog to have around kids (notice Annabelle).  They pull on her eyes, tail, fur and everything and she just jumps up if she's uncomfortable.  She is wonderful.  I thinka couple times in her life she has been a "horse" rather than a dog. :) She also is helping out because she's been around since the kids can remember.  They won't ever be afraid of dogs! :)  One time my sister said one of her kids went up to a dog thinking it would be sweet like Abby!  Oops!

And now you know a little bit more about me. :)
Happy blogging!!

  1. Yay! You joined Lynnette's blog party! I'm sure you'll find even more great blogs to follow if you peruse the Linky list on her post. :-)

It was fun reading your answers. Great job with adding all the pictures! I was doing a little online browsing at IKEA just today! And, last year I did get a very modest wardrobe makeover out of necessity (I had spent the previous 5 years either pregnant or nursing, and many of my clothes were either outdated or didn't fit or both. :-)), and let me tell you, it was fun. :-) I know I can't do that much clothes shopping every year, though. :-) Oh, and I also strongly dislike bugs--especially spiders, ticks, and box elder bugs. (Shiver!)

Enjoy the rest of the blog party!

    Blessings to you!

  2. Angela: I've been having a blast searching through blogs! It's been fun to get into Blog-land! I thought it would be more fun to add pics to help share my family. :) I'm visual so why not?

  3. Hi Mary. Nice to get to know you. I just browsed your whole blog. Love all the pics. I barely remember being a newlywed and it was only five years ago. Now I sit here with three kids upstairs "sleeping". I still hear them-at least the oldest but I'm just going to pretend they're sleeping... I am sure God will bless you with children and you will be wonderful parents. What are you reading about fertility? Are you aware of natural family planning at all?

  4. Amy: My sister gave me the book about fertility because she knew I needed a book that would help my husband and I NOT get pregnant for at least a couple years. There's a section in the book how to figure out your whole cycle and everything! My husband really wants to be working full time and have us settled before we have children. He is attending ISU right now and will be done by December 2011. We are both looking forward to it! :)
    Thanks for browsing my blog!
